August Oster creates psychedelic, surreal cartoon imagery on two-dimensional and three-dimensional surfaces. His work focuses on bright colors and aggressive patterns, peppered with contorted figures to bring balance to the chaos. When illuminating ceramic pieces, he lets the shape of the underlying surface accentuate his imagery. A lifelong Virginian, Oster has an art degree from and conducted an artist residency at Longwood University. While his studio is based in Louisa, he continues to travel to other cities around the state seeking growth and inspiration. See more of Oster’s work at augustoster.com.
