With a macabre retro aesthetic and a dark sense of humor, Charles W. Peale is a prolific collage artist specializing in cut paper and digital archival assemblages. This month’s cover features one of his more sculptural pieces, “Just A Cigarette More.” His work perfectly blends the dadaist collage tradition with a classic punk sensibility, making his creations feel equally appropriate to be hung in the gallery or pasted up in some back alleyway. Based in Charlottesville, Peale is an Associate Artist at the McGuffey Art Center. See more of his work at charleswpeale.com.
