View SlideshowBlending indie burlesque and electro dance party, PurpleLife RVA is the lovechild of Deanna Danger and Joseph Whitfield, organizers of Boom Boom Basics Burlesque and ANIMAL - RVA respectively. With decidedly unabashed sensibilities, this monthly freak fête showcases the best of Richmond’s underground entertainment scene, while also providing a safe, positive environment for LGBTQ+ persons and allies. The debut performance in August featured music from DJs Dirt Thurston and David Riley, plus a group routine set, of course, to Prince’s classic, “Controversy.” It’s a Warholian affair for those that, in the words of Ms. Deanna, are “always with class and a good bit of sass.”
PurpleLife RVA happens on the third Saturday of the month at Godfrey’s. The next party is September 16, tickets are $8 presale, $10 at the door. Party starts at 10 PM, 18+ only. Let loose at facebook.com/purpleliferva.
