Originally from San Diego, Adam Martin Disbrow is an expressionist painter living in Charlottesville and is a resident artist at the Sperryville ARTist Cooperative. A Portrait of Beauty, his upcoming solo exhibit at The Music Resource Center, is a study in the subjectivity of aesthetics. The collection presents a vivid dichotomy between highly stylized minimalist studies and aggressively abstract textural fields. Intended to provoke a thoughtful reaction from his audience, Disbrow is drawn to grand, universal themes, saying, “Freedom, entropy, life, death, and time are key concepts of my work.” An opening reception will be held in Charlottesville on Friday, August 4 from 5–7 PM.
