Fascinated by the tactile qualities of clay, Carren Clarke-McAdoo has spent the past several years exploring its expressive potential. Inspired by the teachings of her instructor, Nga Weaver, she discovered her personal passion for the medium. Clarke-McAdoo and Weaver are now business partners, operating Woodland Heights Studio in Richmond. They are also two of nearly 100 clay artisans taking part in the second annual RVA Clay Studio Tour. Organized by 21 individual pottery studios, this citywide event will take place during the weekend of June 3–4. Studios will be open to the public on Saturday from 10 AM–5 PM and Sunday from 12–5 PM.
