Originally from Harrisonburg, Andre Shank is a painter living in the Lakeside neighborhood of Richmond. Known for his murals of arresting color, he has previously worked under the pseudonym Bombproof. On April 21, the Eric Schindler Gallery hosted his first solo exhibition entitled Altar Egos. This series of abstract portraits features calm silhouettes filled with chaotic interiors, each dripping with his signature glitchy textures. He questions how people use social media to build alternate personas, chopping and cropping their way to a life more preferable to the one they live IRL. Altar Egos will be on display through May 13, 2017.
