Y’all Are So Fab is a solo retrospective by photographer Wes McQuillen hosted in the Richmond Independent Zine Library at Gallery5. Drawing from over a decade of work, the exhibit includes McQuillen’s queer pin-up photos, event photography from Richmond’s queer dance party Animal, and other pieces from his personal collection. Acting as a colorful mirror, McQuillen excels at finding his subjects in discrete moments of action, capturing each at their best and brightest. Through photography, he strives to document and uplift his local queer community, a stance that offers political depth to images that may superficially appear to merely celebrate sensuous pleasure. Y’all Are So Fab opens March 3 and will be on display during normal business hours and by appointment through April 28. See more of McQuillen’s photography at colorfulrichmond.com.
