we are giggling
pulling at your shoulder to roll your head
pinching your toes with a whispered wake up!
then the quick step down the hall
the nurses lowering their voices
shifting shadows on the tiles
then the eyelid unlatched
a magic eight ball already shaken
already swirling to black.
