Heather Bryant illustrates encounters between beings faced with the choice of accepting or rejecting each other. Using watercolor, gouache, and ink, her work is an eclectic mix of color, pattern, and repetitious ornamentation. The investigation of opposing forces is a focus of her research, analyzing the struggle between vice and virtue and being in this world but not of it. Heather teaches at the Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk and will be featured in Work Release’s group show Native opening Friday, February 12.
